Here are Joni’s comments regarding this recent news about Gofore.  Gofore announced on Wednesday that its DACH region subsidiary has won a significant framework agreement with the ITZBund (Information Technology Center of the German Federal Government). The annual value of the agreement is estimated by Gofore to be several million or even 5 MEUR, making it a strategically significant entry into the German public sector. The agreement does not lead to immediate changes in our forecasts, but it strengthens our confidence in the company’s 2026 growth forecasts and the organic turnaround of the DACH region after challenging years. Here are Joni’s comments regarding this recent news.  Gofore announced on Monday that the City of Espoo has selected the GoforeNostrum consortium as the primary provider for expert services related to digital transformation support. The contract has a duration of seven years, and its estimated total value over the entire contract period is approximately 44 MEUR. The contract does not lead to changes in forecasts, as this is a re-tendering. However, this strengthens our confidence in the company’s competitiveness in the highly competitive public sector, and it brings continuity especially in important re-tenderings. These public procurement tenders are always interesting, when Gofore, with an annual turnover of just under 200 million euros, forms a consortium with Nostrum to land a 7-year, 44 million euro deal (no minimum purchase obligation) with the city. What is Nostrum? Apparently, the company was founded just under a year ago, and any billing accumulated during its history likely originated—lo and behold—from a City of Espoo project (completely speculative). This, in turn, probably relates to Silver Planet, which Gofore acquired back in the day, regarding the founder. One could infer that Nostrum offers something so significant for the procurement solution that the consortium was put together for that reason and was decisive for the win. I wonder how tight the race was in terms of points and who was left on the reserve list or left biting the dust. The public sector certainly has an interesting way of buying services.  Great continuity for Gofore, of course, as the deal has probably been quite significant before as well and provides interesting work for many experts for years to come.

I always answer when asked →   ”Long-term potential  Looking at Witted today through the eyes of an owner, what do you think is a realistic scale for the company in a perspective of a few years? Do you still see a clear opportunity for significant growth despite the current market situation?”  → Yes, I still see good opportunities for growth. The market is not structurally limited. The amount of code in the world is growing at a massive rate. Although productivity is improving at a frantic pace, it hasn’t led to the number of new projects staying the same – on the contrary – more software is being created in the world than ever before. By the way, here’s a picture that’s been circulating on social media and depicts quite well what the world looks like through the eyes of technical people:   (Statistics circulating on social media)  ”Competitive advantage Witted has spoken a lot about the freelancer network model and its scalability. How strong do you see this as a competitive advantage relative to traditional consulting firms in the long term, amidst the AI disruption?”  → In my opinion, the company is in an exceptionally strong position. One key advantage of the network model is that capacity can be increased without the organization’s size growing at the same rate. If demand grows, the bottleneck almost always shifts to talent. In that situation, the network model can be really strong. We saw this model working well back when the company was growing rapidly during its first ten years.  ”Market cycle The IT consulting market has been quite soft in recent years. Do you see the current situation more as a normal cycle, or has some more structural change occurred in the industry?”  → During this 6-month skiing holiday, I wrote my master’s thesis (gradu) on this subject, so the theme has been quite close to me lately. Based on the data, demand weakened rapidly during 2022–2024, but the basic business models of the companies did not change. The companies’ own interpretation of the situation has been mainly cyclical. So it looks more like a market cycle correction than a structural disruption of the industry. (9/10 Finnish listed IT service companies interviewed - Tieto declined the interview)  ”Valuation from an owner’s perspective Without, of course, commenting on the exact share price, how do you see Witted’s position relative to other Nordic IT consulting companies when looking at growth potential, scalability, and long-term profitability? Is there something in the Witted story that the market might not yet fully price in?”  → Valuation levels have come down across the board for IT service companies. I used to get quite a bit of pressure when Witted’s valuation dropped, but in hindsight, it’s clear it wasn’t just about Witted, but the direction of the entire industry. My own view is that current market levels don’t really believe in Witted’s potential. I do. I believe Witted still has very good years ahead. Best regards, Harri

Competitive advantage  Witted has talked a lot about the freelancer network model and its scalability. How strong do you see this as a competitive advantage in the midst of the AI transformation compared to traditional consulting firms in the longer term?   Market cycle  The IT consulting market has been quite soft over the last few years. Do you see the current situation more as a normal cycle, or has there been some more structural change in the industry?   Valuation from a shareholder’s perspective  Without, of course, commenting on the exact share price, how do you see Witted’s position relative to other Nordic IT consulting companies when looking at growth potential, scalability, and long-term profitability? @Frans-Mikael_Rostedt, while pondering over the weekend, a development suggestion for Witted’s analysis came to mind: could some kind of tabular solution be implemented to show the current forecasts in relation to the Rule of 20 financial target?  EBITA-% isn’t directly visible annually from the DCF model, for example, because the DCF uses EBIT-% instead of EBITA-%. It has, of course, become obvious when reading the reports that the current forecasts do not assume Witted will reach its financial targets during the strategy period.

Good timing  Indeed, here is a quick take on the January figures, which I added to the front page of the report on Inderes.fi. An interesting year ahead for sure. January figures were slightly better than our updated expectations Witted’s expert count in January fell to 359 (forecast 357) and revenue was in line with our 4.7 MEUR forecast. Consequently, we believe our forecast for the current year is well in line with these figures, or perhaps slightly on the cautious side, considering the company’s improved trend. Organically, revenue decreased by 0.4% compared to the comparison period, but there was also one fewer working day. Revenue grew by 9.6% adjusted for working days and by 4.5% organically adjusted for working days. Sales comments continued in line with Q4.

International demand is stronger than domestic, and the private sector continues to be stronger than the public sector. Our new sales have continued clearly stronger than in the comparison period.

Moving forward with a slightly more moderate recommendation, which is understandable given the development in the number of experts and the share price decline of peers.  In my opinion, Witted is not quite as much in the line of fire regarding AI disruption compared to other IT service firms, because they have historically provided more capable senior talent, for whom there should be continued demand in the future. Otherwise, the takeaway from yesterday’s webcast and interview left me with the feeling that we perhaps shouldn’t expect very strong growth this year, but all the more improvement in profitability.
