Xplora Technologies AS is a Norwegian based company that develops and sells smartwatches designed to safely onboard children to the digital world. Xplora Technologies was listed on the Euronext Growth Oslo market in Nov 2020. Xplora Technologies gives parents the confidence to allow their children to play freely outside by providing connectivity and additional safety solutions whilst simultaneously incentivising physical activity and engagement with ESG initiatives through its digital Goplay platform. Together with producing and selling hardware Xplora Technologies generates recurring revenues from value-adding services and connectivity referred to as the Xplora Service Platform. Xplora also extends third-party licenses of the service platform to other smart devices producers, further extending upselling capabilities.

Dette varierer fra region til region. I nogle områder skal selv smartwatches ligge i rygsækken. Det er så på den anden side lidt af et finsk fænomen. I det tysksprogede Centraleuropa er udbredelsen af mobiltelefoner til børn betydeligt lavere. I Tyskland og Schweiz føler nogle børn, at de ikke har noget at bruge en telefon til. En schweizisk vens barn fik en telefon som 13-årig og afleverede den tilbage på tredjedagen og ville returnere den. De påstår, at den tyske TikTok vist meget hurtigt bliver fyldt med højreekstremistisk materiale, i hvert fald på børneprofiler.

Det finske institut for sundhed og velfærds (THL) nye digitale anbefalinger fraråder smartphones til børn under 13 år, og anbefaler højst telefoner med begrænsede funktioner. Dette kunne i hvert fald i nogen grad lune i Xploras kasse. Der er ingen oplysninger om anbefalinger fra de andre nordiske lande. Mit eget barn går i første klasse, og man må ikke have smartphones med i skolen. Jeg ved ikke, hvordan dette bliver kontrolleret, eller om den alligevel må ligge i tasken? Men et mobilur må man gerne have på håndleddet.

Q3 resultat  ude. Kvartalets omsætning for første gang over en halv milliard (NOK). Og ifølge CEO’en “senior- og ungdomsmarkedet er kun i de tidlige stadier.”  Xplora Q3 25 Surpassed half a billion in quarterly revenue, with record-high EBITDA Xplora Technologies Oslo, 26 November 2025 – Xplora Technologies AS (“Xplora”) today published its results for the third quarter 2025. Revenue in Q3 2025 more than doubled to NOK 510m, exceeding half a billion for the first time in a single quarter. EBITDA came in at NOK 72m in the quarter. “We report a solid year-on-year increase of 36% in our subscription base reaching a total subscription base of 443k. This yielded a 19% increase in service revenue to NOK 90m, corresponding to an ARR of NOK 358m” says CEO Sten Kirkbak. “With the Senior and Youth markets still in the early stages, the subscription opportunities are significant”, Kirkbak adds. Gross margin increased to 52% in the quarter, supported by the introduction of new product series with lower cost of goods sold and channel optimization, generating a 122% year-on-year increase in gross profit to NOK 263m. EBITDA increased by 133% to NOK 72m, corresponding with an EBITDA-margin of 14%. Year-to-date (YTD) 2025, group revenues reached NOK 1.3b, up 135% from the same period last year. Gross profit YTD was NOK 685m, a year-on-year increase of 146%, whereas EBITDA increased by 169% to NOK 140m. “With our strong performance in Q3 and year-to-date, we have established a solid foundation for continued growth and expansion. At today’s Capital Markets Day, we will demonstrate how we intend to leverage these opportunities as we progress toward—and beyond—one million subscriptions,” says Kirkbak. Building on this momentum, the roadmap and growth opportunities we will present at today’s CMD, and to support our long-term capital markets strategy, the board of directors of Xplora has decided to initiate a process for analysing alternatives for an uplisting from Euronext Growth to Oslo Stock Exchange, Nasdaq Stockholm or another regulated marketplace. The ambitions are that the process is completed within 12 months, subject to prevailing market conditions and regulatory approvals.

Forhåbentlig ville der blive udgivet en sammenligning af HMD Fusion X1 med Xplora-appen, for eksempel med den almindelige Fusion med Google Family Link. Fusion X1 med Xploras forældre-app er blevet markedsført med, at den ikke har forudinstallerede programmer, men at ibrugtagning af alle kan overvåges via forældre-appen. Kontakter (opkald og SMS) styres også via forældre-appen. Jeg kender personligt ikke rigtig Family Link, men jeg har forstået, at børn lærer at omgå det. Fra Xploras forretningsmæssige synspunkt er risikoen i denne HMD-udløber lille. Hovedfokus er på den kontinuerlige indtægtsstrøm fra urtelefoner og den kontinuerlige indtægtsstrøm fra Xplora-abonnementer til Doros senior-telefoner. Jeg har netop købt en Xplora X6 Play til min datter, som hendes søskende allerede har gode erfaringer med. Fra et personligt økonomisk synspunkt var jeg skuffet, og som investor spandt jeg af tilfredshed, da jeg ikke lykkedes med at omgå Xploras servicegebyrer med et 5 euro Telia-prepaidkort. Med det abonnement ville tilføjelse af uret have krævet betaling af et månedligt gebyr på 9 euro til Xplora. Jeg endte med at hælde mine penge i Xploras kasse og tog deres eget abonnement til 9 euro/måned med 12 måneders forudbetaling.

Den telefon, der er lavet med HMD, er bestemt interessant, fordi den muliggør meget detaljeret tilpasning af barnets telefonindhold. Vores barn er 8 år og har klaret de første to klassetrin med en urtelefon. Nu har alle vennerne mobiltelefoner, så barnet får nok en telefon i 9-års fødselsdagsgave. Den Fusion X1 er bestemt højt på listen over muligheder, selvom den månedlige pris på 5,99 euro for appen, der skal anskaffes af forældrene, lyder ret høj. På den anden side vil jeg gerne bestemme, hvilke apps der kommer på barnets telefon, samt helt blokere adgangen til browseren, så måske er det pengene værd. Eller kan de begrænses på andre måder, f.eks. via Googles egne forældrekontrolfunktioner?

Xplora has acquired Emporia, the leading provider of senior mobile phones in the DACH region, enhancing its established presence in the Nordics, UK, and France following its previous acquisition of Doro. Emporia sells over 300,000 devices annually, representing a 25-30% increase in device sales within the senior segment. The transaction price remains undisclosed but is expected to be funded from current resources (NOK 423m in cash by Q4 2025), with completion anticipated in Q2 2026. Based on comparable valuation metrics used for the Doro acquisition, we estimate a purchase price of NOK 250-300m. Xplora plans to leverage Emporia’s established hardware footprint by integrating it with Xplora’s subscription platform and MVNO capabilities, where we expect MVNO operations are likely to launch in Austria and Switzerland in the near future (existing MVNO in Germany). The Emporia acquisition strategically complements Xplora’s current business and expands the subscriber potential in the senior segment by 25-30%, where we expect the share to be up  today.
