Smoltek Nanotech Holding AB: Smoltek Hydrogen strengthens technical expertise through leading industrial consortium

Smoltek Nanotech Holding

This press release is an English version of the previously published Swedish version, which has interpretive precedence.

Smoltek Nanotech Holding AB (publ) ("Smoltek" or "the Company") announces that the subsidiary Smoltek Hydrogen gets access to international research expertise from Chalmers University of Technology to refine and validate its electrode solutions for PEM electrolysis - an important step towards industrialization and commercial application. The project is operated within SESBC (Swedish Electricity Storage and Balancing Center), a leading Swedish industrial consortium with industrial and academic partners. In addition to Smoltek and Chalmers, the consortium includes Celcibus, Hymeth, Ionautics, Hydri Solutions, Hitachi Energy, Svenska kraftnät and Nanoscientifica.

As part of the consortium, an international researcher from Chalmers will join Smoltek's team to refine experimental methods for electrodes for PEM electrolysis. These new measurement techniques provide deeper insights into performance and degradation mechanisms, accelerating Smoltek Hydrogen's development of stable, high-performance electrodes.

Thanks to the collaboration, the company can refine and validate its electrode solutions for PEM electrolysis in close collaboration with key players in the Swedish hydrogen industry - an important step towards industrialization and commercial application.

"By combining industrial collaboration with world-class academic expertise, SESBC gives us a unique position to validate our technology in a broader context. The network includes key players in Sweden's hydrogen value chain, which is crucial to bring PEM electrolysis technology to industrial application", says Fabian Wenger, Vice President Technology at Smoltek Hydrogen.

The SESBC consortium is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and represents a national initiative to strengthen Sweden's position in electrochemical energy storage and conversion. For Smoltek Hydrogen, it strengthens the company's role as an important contributor to the Swedish hydrogen ecosystem and a driver for technology towards industrial application.
