OrganoClick AB: OrganoClick granted EU support within the PENGUIN project

OrganoClick

Together with several European partners, OrganoClick has been granted EU support to develop biobased and biodegradable technical textiles and nonwovens for the outdoor industry. Within the project, OrganoClick will further develop its biobased binders for nonwovens as well as OrganoTex's water-repellent textile technologies. In total, OrganoClick receives an EU grant of SEK 7 million distributed over 4 years.

Partners from a number of companies and research institutes from different parts of the textile value chain participate in the PENGUIN project. The Finnish research institute VTT is the project manager and the project consortium consists of companies and institutes from Sweden, Finland, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

OrganoClick's funding of SEK 7 million will be used to further develop its biobased binders for nonwovens which replaces fossil plastic binders, and OrganoTex's water-repellent textile technologies which replaces PFAS in textile impregnations. 2 new R&D employees will be hired and the financing also enables investment in two advanced chemical analysis instruments; a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an FTIR. With an SEM, magnification up to 20,000 times can be done and studies at the fiber level can be carried out. With an FTIR, chemical bonds can be analyzed, which is used in the characterization of treated materials.

"We are very happy to have been granted the project grant for the PENGUIN project within the framework of the EU's Horizon Europe programme. With our new analytical instruments, our R&D lab reaches a new technical height and with the personnel reinforcements to our R&D group, we will be able to accelerate the development of our biobased binders and our OrganoTex products" says Maria Wennman, Research and Development Director OrganoClick
