On 5 November 2026, the Land and Environment Court of Appeal issued a summons to a hearing on 19 January 2027 concerning Vapsten Sami village's appeal against the Stortjärnhobben land designation. The hearing will be held in Stockholm and begins at 09:00. Lappland Guldprospektering AB (publ) (the "Company") has access to the designated land while the appeal is being considered.
"It feels good to now have a date for the hearing. After a long process, we look forward to having the appeal heard"
Fredrik Johansson, Chief Executive Officer, Lappland Guldprospektering AB (publ)
The land designation determines which land the Company may use for its operations and the compensation payable to affected rights holders.
On 3 April 2024, the Mining Inspectorate of Sweden granted the land designation and determined the compensation for land use and intrusion. On 25 June 2025, the Land and Environment Court amended the decision by increasing the compensation payable to Vapsten Sami village to SEK 122,088. The other compensation amounts remained unchanged. After the judgment, the compensation is allocated as follows:
| Recipient | Compensation |
|---|---|
| Sveaskog Förvaltnings AB | SEK 3,039,000 |
| Swedish Environmental Protection Agency | SEK 805,000 |
| Mejvanbäckens jaktlag (hunting group) | SEK 21,000 |
| Vapsten Sami village | SEK 122,088 |
| Total | SEK 3,987,088 |
The Company has lodged security with the Mining Inspectorate of Sweden for the compensation awarded. The land designation is enforceable before it becomes final, and the Company therefore retains access to the designated land despite the appeal.
Vapsten Sami village has appealed the judgment to the Land and Environment Court of Appeal, which has granted leave to appeal. The proceedings concern the need for the designated land and compensation for damage or intrusion. The hearing on 19 January 2027 is the next step in the proceedings.
The table shows the Company's assessment as of 6 November 2026 of when upcoming milestones will be reached. The timings are based on, among other things, current planning and, for the environmental permit, the County Administrative Board's processing, and may therefore change. The Company will update the table in future press releases.
Core drilling (drilling that recovers a continuous core of rock)² and chip drilling³ are the two drilling methods mentioned in the table.
| Milestone | Timing |
|---|---|
| Continued core drilling² at Stortjärnhobben | Autumn 2026 |
| Decision on the environmental permit for trial mining at Stortjärnhobben | Autumn 2026 |
| Assay results from the autumn core drilling² at Nya Gilleberget | Fourth quarter of 2026 |
| Updated mineral resource for Stortjärnhobben | Fourth quarter of 2026 |
| Preliminary economic assessment for Stortjärnhobben | Fourth quarter of 2026 |
| Review of the historical drilling material at Gubbträsk and announcement of further exploration | Fourth quarter of 2026 |
| Follow-up chip drilling³ at Löparen with a tighter grid | Winter 2026/2027 |
| Hearing on the land designation for Stortjärnhobben in the Land and Environment Court of Appeal | 19 January 2027 |
The table is grouped by period. Autumn and the fourth quarter overlap. The hearing on 19 January falls in winter 2026/2027.
