IDEX Biometrics ASA: Appoints new Executive Chairman and CEO

Oslo, Norway, 1 June 2026.

Leadership and Board changes

IDEX Biometrics ASA today announces that Anders Storbråten transitions from Chief Executive Officer to Executive Chairman of the Board, and that Kjell-Arne Besseberg is appointed Chief Executive Officer and interim Chief Financial Officer with immediate effect.

In little more than a year as CEO, Anders Storbråten has restructured and refinanced the company, led the development and commercial launch of its biometric card products, and established revenue through agreements with new channel partners and customers - building the ecosystem required to scale the business.

The board considers IDEX to be at an inflection point - moving from restructuring and product launch to commercial scaling - and views this transition as a natural next step in the company's development. The new structure is designed to sharpen, not reduce, Anders's commitment to IDEX. With Kjell-Arne Besseberg assuming responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the organisation, Anders is freed to concentrate his time and expertise on what matters most to the company's commercial trajectory - its most important customer and partner relationships, product, commercial strategy, communication, and capital markets. He will remain closely involved in the business on a daily basis.

“It has been a privilege to lead IDEX through this period, and I am proud of what we have built together - a strong product, a growing base of paying customers, and real commercial momentum. I am more committed to IDEX than ever. With Kjell-Arne stepping up to run the company, I can put my full energy where I can add the most value, and I am genuinely excited about what we can achieve in the years ahead,” says Anders Storbråten, Executive Chairman.

Kjell-Arne Besseberg joined IDEX Biometrics as Chief Operating Officer in June 2025. Working closely alongside Anders Storbråten, he has been central to building the platform now in place - strengthening the organisation, the supply chain, and the company's commercial operations and customer agreements. He takes over as CEO and interim CFO with immediate effect.

“IDEX has a great product and real opportunities ahead. Anders and I have built this platform together, and I am excited to lead the next phase - focusing on execution, growing revenue and deepening our customer relationships, with Anders close at hand,” says Kjell-Arne Besseberg, Chief Executive Officer and interim Chief Financial Officer.

Market backdrop
The need for IDEX's technology has rarely been clearer. As artificial intelligence rapidly lowers the cost and raises the sophistication of cyber attacks - from AI-generated fraud and deepfakes to the large-scale compromise of password- and software-based authentication - security that is rooted in hardware and verified offline becomes increasingly important. IDEX's biometric cards keep the user's fingerprint on the card itself and authenticate the user without relying on networks, servers or software that can be attacked remotely.

The board believes this dynamic - accelerated by the latest generation of AI models - makes IDEX's products more relevant than ever, and it is one of the reasons Anders Storbråten will continue to lead the company's most important commercial relationships in his role as Executive Chairman.

Outgoing Chair: Morten Opstad
The board extends its sincere thanks to Morten Opstad for his long and dedicated service to IDEX Biometrics. As the company's longest-standing figure, Morten has played an important part in IDEX's journey, and the board is grateful for his commitment over many years. The board wishes him every success in his future endeavours.
