Herantis Pharma Plc is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing disease modifying therapies for Parkinson’s disease. Herantis’ lead product HER-096 is a small synthetic chemical peptidomimetic molecule developed based on the active site of the CDNF protein. HER-096 combines the mechanism of action of CDNF with subcutaneous administration. Ikke helt – men banebrydende tiltag er på vej Parkinsons sygdom er brutal – ingen kur, kun symptombehandling. At “stoppe” progressionen er den hellige gral for sygdomsmodificerende behandlinger, og begge programmer fremhæver dette potentiale, men ingen af dem er der endnu: • HER-096: Frisk fra Fase 1b-succes (sikker, hjerne-penetrerende, stabile symptomer), plus en ren 6-måneders toksikologistudie i november 2025. Det er positioneret som en potentiel “først-i-klassen” til at standse progressionen ved at ramme grundårsagerne, med fulde biomarkører forventet i slutningen af 2025. Fase 2-effektivitetsresultater? Ikke før omkring 2027. Støttet af MJFF og Parkinson’s UK, er det lovende, men tidligt. • Roches Prasinezumab: Længere fremme i Fase III (starter sent 2025/tidligt 2026), med data der viser motorisk nedsættelse i undergrupper. Hvis det lykkes, kunne det være den første godkendte modificerende behandling til at bremse Parkinsons sygdom – ikke en kur, men et massivt fremskridt. Roche satser stort og kalder det en “revolution” inden for neurodegeneration. Ingen af dem er en kur (fuldstændig reversering af skader? Årtier væk, hvis nogensinde). Men prasinezumab kunne måske gøre krav på at være “først til at bremse” tidligere, mens HER-096 kunne differentiere sig på reparation. Hvis de indgik partnerskab, ville det være en kraftfuld kombination – synergistiske mekanismer, delte forsøg?
