Grangex is a group that intends to be part of the European metal supply through the development of mineral projects for the extraction of primarily iron ore products, critical minerals such as phosphorus-bearing apatite and other minerals with a focus on rare earth elements (REE). The Sydvaranger mine in Norway is being developed primarily. The company is headquartered in Stockholm.

Next up, DFS. There would be quite good cash flow available with relatively small investments. Judging by the share price reaction, there are still open questions, even though the cash flows look very strong. Of course, everything works beautifully, at least in theory, and a start would be expected by the end of 2026, but financing is still open. Paid analysis available, which for understandable reasons practically focuses on the Sydvaranger mine. Funding is thus still open, and this certainly requires faith in these market conditions. I really had to double-check this. In the Aktiedagarna presentation, at around the three-minute mark, CEO Christer Lindqvist indeed says “…we also have all permits”. Whether he still leaves something essential unsaid on the side remains, of course, open to speculation, but on the other hand, at this stage, the permitting seems to be at least in good order. These are, of course, “listener’s responsibility” situations, because there is now great pressure to secure funding, and the temptation to leave something essential unsaid can be significant.

I guess there are still quite a few other steps before the mine can be set up. Someone would probably still need to do a Feasibility Study and then secure some kind of financing. Anglo certainly has a priority right and a strong interest in investing money in establishing the mine, but as I understand it, they don’t actually have an investment obligation. Only after that can the mine be opened, which never goes as smoothly as in the movies, so I’d say that the 2027 mine opening will very quickly become 2030  It’s extremely difficult to open a new mine in Norway, as we can see from the NOM example, so it sounds great that all permits are allegedly in order. I would double-check that, because it sounds incredible that there wouldn’t be any permit issues ahead, even though the FS is still ongoing. Otherwise, the production of DR iron pellets looks good as a business, and there should start to be a shortage of them in the 2030s, unless Ukraine manages to modernize its massive iron mines.
