Detection Technology is a global solution and service provider of X-ray detectors for medical, security and industrial applications. The company's solutions range from sensor components to optimized detector systems with microcircuits, electronics, mechanics, software and algorithms. The company has offices in Finland, India, China, France and the USA. Detection Technology was founded in 1991 and has its headquarters in Espoo.

In my opinion, this is to some extent a positive signal, but as a sum, it is completely insignificant. It should also be noted that the Finnish earned income taxation encourages the use of these types of systems, and in the end, we other shareholders pay for these rewards anyway.

Shouldn’t the nature of the transaction be marked as a reward (remuneration) rather than an acquisition if it were a stock-based incentive? Some have a unit price of €9.12 and others €9.14

It is still slightly positive that if the alternative is stock X or cash which can be used to buy any other stocks, the insiders choose the form of stock X.

I suppose those acquisitions are related to the board’s remuneration scheme: Share-based incentive: Each member of the Board of Directors may, at their own discretion, choose to receive approximately 40% of the fixed annual remuneration in Detection Technology Plc shares and the remainder in cash

It seems to be the board’s annual share-based incentives; apparently, 40% of the total annual compensation for the role can be paid out as share rewards.

Nice amount of insider buying just came in to strengthen the conviction of the DT bulls:  Since Ingram and Vainionpää bought the same amount, I’m not sure if this is related to some specific program.

Based on the numbers, this company doesn’t look expensive. The company invests 10-15% of its revenue into R&D annually. If I remember correctly, the CEO also mentioned that R&D/investment costs are expected to decrease in the future. Last quarter’s cash flow was hit hard by preparations for component shortages and stockpiling inventory. In the Q2 results, my attention is now on whether they’ve managed to get this inventory moving. Otherwise, DeeTee has been excellent at churning out cash flow year after year.  Finances are also in good shape at DeeTee. It’s nice to have some cash in the background, especially during these headwinds, but it would be great to find a use for it. I wouldn’t necessarily want to see it distributed as a large dividend to shareholders; an acquisition would be preferable to drive growth into the next size category. As for the bearish view, is this headwind—this “wilderness trek” that has lasted over a year—the new normal? I don’t think so, but it could be. However, detectors wear out, imaging technology evolves, and both people and packages are moving more. In China, there was a long reform process that is now gradually being resolved, and the market should start waking up. We won’t reach the same margins there as during the golden years, that’s clear. However, the CEO said something to the effect that if you survive in China, you’ll shine globally. The renewal of airport scanners in the USA has been awaited like the rising moon, and the can has constantly been kicked down the road. They haven’t been renewed yet, meaning DeeTee hasn’t lost customers. Their renewal has just been delayed time and again for some new reason. I think it’s very unlikely they won’t be renewed eventually, but the question is when. The biggest negative case would be the loss of a major customer, but that hasn’t happened, at least not yet. DeeTee now has stock in the warehouse, so they aren’t sold out, products are being developed constantly, and new ones are being brought to market.
