Here are Antti’s comments regarding Valmet’s boiler order and how Q4 order news has still been scarce.  Valmet announced on Wednesday that it had agreed to supply a boiler fuel conversion to Fortum’s Zabrze combined heat and power plant in Poland. The order will be booked in Valmet’s Q4 orders, but deals of this magnitude are already included in our order forecasts. We expect Valmet to announce some other new equipment orders in Q4 as well, even though the investment appetite of customers, especially in the forest sector, is weak and uncertain in the short term. Valmet Oyj:n lehdistötiedote 3.12.2025 klo 9.30 Valmet toimittaa kattilapolttoaineen muunnoksen                             Valmet to supply boiler fuel conversion to Fortum Zabrze combined heat and power plant in Poland. Valmet’s delivery to Fortum Zabrze power plant includes the conversion of the boiler fuel from coal to biomass. Valmet’s delivery is part of Fortum’s 85 million euro investment project to modernize the Zabrze plant. Currently, the Zabrze plant uses 60 percent coal and 40 percent recycled derived fuel (RDF) as fuel. After modernization, coal will be replaced by locally supplied certified forest biomass. The order is included in Valmet’s orders received for the fourth quarter of 2025. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The modernized power plant is scheduled to start up in the last quarter of 2027.

This is a next-generation polar research vessel that will operate in climate and marine research in the Arctic and Antarctic. The vessel has been ordered by the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI). It will be built by TKMS, and delivery is planned for 2030. The order was included in Valmet’s orders for the third quarter of 2025. The value of the order will not be disclosed. Technical information of the delivery  The delivery includes Valmet’s machinery automation system, covering machinery, power management, emergency shutdown, and condition monitoring. Valmet will also provide lifecycle services, from predictive maintenance to continuous updates, to ensure the system evolves with the vessel’s needs.

The aim of the investment is to convert the recently relocated paper machine for the production of recycled fluting and linerboard grades. The grade conversion rebuild will extend the lifespan of the machine originally supplied by Valmet, while increasing Wuzhou Special Paper’s production capacity. The start-up of the machine is scheduled for early 2027. The order was included in Valmet’s orders received in the third quarter of 2025. The value of the order will not be disclosed. This new order is a continuation of Wuzhou Special Paper’s previous winder orders, which were announced in July 2024 and March 2025.

The order was placed by GS E&C Corp., the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the plant. With intelligent automation, the plant will optimize energy production, reduce emissions, and ensure efficient and stable performance throughout its lifecycle. The solution provides operators with comprehensive visibility and control over all stages of the waste incineration process. The Seongnam waste-to-energy plant is designed to improve local waste management and produce renewable energy. The plant will be equipped with two incineration lines operating with grate boilers, capable of processing up to 500 tons of municipal solid waste per day and generating up to 9.9 megawatts of clean electricity. Commercial operation is scheduled to begin in early 2028.  The order was included in Valmet’s orders received in the third quarter of 2025. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The delivery will be handed over to the customer at the end of 2027.
