Norbit is a technology company. The company specializes in sonar solutions used in the marine sector. The technology is based on proprietary technology and is mainly used for inspection and control of underwater environments, 3D imaging, and various system integrations. In addition, various products are offered for surveillance, digital signal processing, and high-resolution data. The largest operations are found in North America and Europe. The headquarters are located in Trondheim, Norway.

I was just wondering this morning if I should be worried since we haven’t heard about any new big contracts. Talk about timing! NORBIT today announces that segment PIR has received a contract manufacturing order, valued at approximately NOK 225 million from an undisclosed European client in the defence and security sector. A vast majority of the deliveries is scheduled for second half of 2026.  This time, a NOK 225 million contract for the contract manufacturing (PIR) side from the defense sector. Deliveries are mostly scheduled for the end of the year.

Inderes              Agreement for a new NOK 155 million order for GNSS On-Board Unit deliveries -...    NORBIT today announces that its segment Connectivity has entered into an agreement regarding a new order for deliveries to the leading European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) provider Toll4Europe...                              Deliveries are scheduled to commence in third quarter. The total order is estimated to around NOK 155 million.  The Toll4Europe partnership seems to be bringing in these ~150 MNOK orders at a nice pace.

Norbit is in an interesting spot technically. On the daily chart, we have dipped below the 200 EMA, which has served as a level to gather momentum a couple of times recently (left image, orange line, 1D). Additionally, the RSI is on the border of being oversold. Furthermore, on a weekly level, it’s at the 50 EMA, which has provided support for the last 2.5 years (no image). If and when the fundamentals are in order, and if we start making new highs above the 12 EMA on the hourly level (right image, yellow line, 1H, don’t catch a falling knife), the motivation for a speculative position increases significantly on my end.  Of course, if the world collapses again next week then..

Inderes              NORBIT - Results for the first quarter 2026 - Inderes    Trondheim, 13 May 2026: In the first quarter, NORBIT recorded revenues of NOK 732.1 million, an increase of 40 per cent from the corresponding quarter of 2025. Analysts have been a bit too bullish with Norbit over the last few quarters, and they can’t be blamed entirely: the company itself provides segment-specific revenue forecasts a bit too boldly. Personally, I would prefer a slightly more pessimistic starting point so that the results would rather surprise to the upside. But about the result: A very solid result, once again. Incredible growth (+40%) YoY. EBIT margin was a strong 21%, while the company’s guidance for the year is over 22%. Q1 is usually the weakest quarter along with Q3, and if this year repeats the patterns of recent years, the starting point for 2026 looks very good!  Oceans was a disappointment for me. Revenue has now stalled at just over 200 MNOK. The planned acquisition would certainly add to this, but I’m also getting a bit of a gut feeling—has organic growth peaked, and now they have to look further afield? Time will tell. Regarding the potential acquisition target:  Target is a well positioned supplier of tailored sensors to underwater vehicles, benefiting from growing demand driven by  defence and security-related applications.   Connectivity performed excellently, and its sales have been on a nice upward trend. It was also a relief to see that the weak margin from Q3’25 has now been kept above >25% for the second quarter in a row.  When I first invested in Norbit, PIR was like a stone in the shoe that killed margins and was a real laggard. Now, due to growth in the defense sector, it has become a major driver for revenue growth, and at the same time, margins have continued their favorable development.  Guidance was reiterated, and the company is well on track to meet its targets.  Expectations for Q2 remain: slightly sluggish Oceans, strong Connectivity, and incredible PIR (  ).  Summa summarum:  A hell of a strong quarter. Analysts were too optimistic, as was the company management after Q4’25 (regarding this quarter). As seasoned “Norbitists” know, there is a lot of fluctuation between quarters, and I’m not worried about anything in the report. The only thing that grates a bit is the prolonged stagnation of Oceans. The former spearhead has turned into a steadily pulsing cash flow machine. Just like Harvia’s sauna heaters, I guess you don’t replace sonars every year? I’ll listen to the conference call later. I also continue as a happy owner, even though the markets will likely punish the stock harshly today for missing on every line.

Alright bunnies! Tomorrow it’s that time again—Norbit’s earnings day!  As you can see from the image, market expectations are quite moderate… In the Q4 report, the company itself guided as follows: Oceans: 210-230 MNOK revenue (usually a slow quarter)  Connectivity: 215-240 MNOK revenue  PIR: 270-390 MNOK revenue. Some deliveries are expected to shift to Q2, which explains the wide range. Total revenue 695-860 MNOK. The range is therefore quite large, so the market could certainly be surprised in either direction. My personal hope is that Oceans starts gaining momentum again, and that we get some additional details regarding the previously announced potential M&A acquisition.

Inderes              NORBIT enters exclusive negotiations for an Oceans technology acquisition -...    Trondheim, 6 May 2026: NORBIT is in exclusive negotiations regarding an add-on acquisition of an undisclosed Oceans-related technology company. The acquisition will broaden the product offering...                             A potential acquisition is in the works. Again, they are announcing negotiations that are already at an advanced stage, but I expect this will likely cross the finish line. The planned acquisition falls under the Oceans segment.  Since 2020, the target company has reported an annual organic growth rate of 48 per cent and is expected to generate around NOK 100 million in revenues in 2026 with an EBITDA margin* in the range of 25-30 per cent, excluding any synergies by combining forces with NORBIT.   A preliminary transaction price has been agreed, valuing the target company on a cash and debt-free basis of NOK 330 million assuming normalized working capital. If completed, the acquisition is expected to be financed with new credit lines. The completion of the transaction is subject to due diligence and the parties entering into a binding agreement for the acquisition. Signing and closing of the transaction are targeted to end of June.  The target company’s revenue this year is approx. 100 MNOK with a 25-30% EBITDA margin. With an EV of 330 MNOK, the EV/EBITDA would be 11-13x. So, it’s not screamingly cheap, but not expensive either. Of course, Norbit’s own multiple is significantly higher. Additionally, the target company operates in the defense market, so structural tailwinds can be expected from the market. Strategic fit with Oceans has likely been well thought out. In 2025, Norbit itself had a turnover of approx. 2,500 MNOK with a 28% EBITDA margin. Oceans accounted for approx. 880 MNOK, so that 100 MNOK addition is a quite substantial addition to the whole. All-in-all, a very Norbit-like acquisition: staying in the niche where they are strong. The target company has grown rapidly with good margins; let’s see if they can squeeze more out of it through synergies (hehe).

A few slides from that annual report, seasoned (perhaps) with my own thoughts. I’ve already linked many of the events here, so it’s pretty familiar stuff.    What can I say about the revenue and earnings. The growth has been beautiful, and last year’s record results crowned it. Overall, the security & defense orders received for the PIR segment have acted as a clear driver. I don’t see this demand fading anytime soon.   All segments are growing. Oceans and Connectivity are up a bit under 20%, and PIR exploded into 100% growth for the reasons mentioned above (although I’m confident in the defense sector’s demand, there’s still a small risk of an earnings bubble here). On the other hand, the company itself emphasizes that there is currently demand for European technology in Europe. Big surprise! As you bunnies following this thread already knew in advance from yours truly, Norbit will reach its 2027 targets a year early. So you read it here first, and only now is Norbit announcing it in its annual report. I’m most excited about this part of the CEO’s statement:  As we approach our 2027 ambition ahead of schedule, it is natural to lift our perspective further. During 2026, we intend to present our ambitions towards 2030 — building on the same development-oriented culture,  commercial discipline, and industrial capability that have brought us this far.   Those were the highlights. Need to keep browsing.
