Merus Power will supply a Merus® STATCOM compensator to a rolling mill in the Argentine steel industry. The delivery is a market entry for the company in Argentina and strengthens Merus Power’s position as a supplier of international industrial power quality solutions.
Merus Power’s compensator improves the stability of the rolling mill’s electric grid, energy efficiency, and production reliability. The value of such deliveries is typically in the range of one million euros. Commissioning will take place in summer 2027.
The customer, Sidersa S.A., is a major player in the Argentine steel industry that is committed to more environmentally friendly steel production and improving its own energy efficiency. Merus Power’s solution supports the customer’s goals by strengthening the management of the production facility’s electrical system and ensuring power quality in the demanding rolling mill environment.
Rolling mills are demanding environments in terms of power quality, where rapid load fluctuations can cause voltage fluctuations and disturbances. Merus® STATCOM stabilizes grid voltage, controls reactive power, and reduces power quality disturbances.
“This delivery represents an important entry into the Argentine market for us and proves the competitiveness of Merus Power’s technology in demanding international industrial projects. The deal strengthens our position as a supplier of industrial compensators and supports our strategy to grow our international power quality business alongside our energy storage business,” says Kari Tuomala, CEO of Merus Power.
