The company announced this morning that its current CEO, Kirsi Suopelto, has resigned from her position to join a new employer. She will, however, remain in office until September 30, 2024.
The current chairman of the board, Jussi Mälkiä, has in turn been appointed as the new CEO as of October 1, 2024. In our view, the possibility of major discontinuities arising in connection with the transition is limited by the fact that the new CEO will be the founder and chairman of the Meriaura board, who thus also has extensive experience in the company and in the marine logistics sector in general.
At the same time, Antti Vehviläinen, current member and vice-chairman of the board, will take over as chairman of the board at the beginning of October.
