Finnair is a Finnish airline. The company offers a wide range of destinations to and from Europe, and to a large part of the world's continents. The flights are mainly found around the Nordic countries, Europe and Asia. In addition to regular flights, long-haul flights are offered. The company was founded in 1923 and is headquartered in Vantaa, Finland. 

Here is a new company report from Antti and Kaisa.  Finnair is seeking a clear growth-driven increase in margins during the new strategy period and also strengthened its financial base for the implementation of the upcoming investment program. Although the stock’s return expectation would be strong if the financial targets are met, Finnair still has a lot to prove regarding maintaining capital-efficient and sustainably profitable growth in a shock-sensitive industry. In our assessment, the forecast-driven earnings improvement has already been priced into the stock, and thus, with a one-year horizon, the return expectation remains below our required rate of return. Therefore, we reiterate our reduce recommendation for Finnair and our target price of 2.70 euros. The joy would be short-lived, for with that agreement a new war will start there after a few years.

I disagree with this. That agreement is probably the best one can hope for. This belongs in the geopolitics threads, but here one can only state that since no one (e.g., Zelensky or Stubb) has directly rejected it, it must be taken seriously. Everyone seems to be speaking carefully.

It doesn’t look like peace is coming there, does it? Trump’s and Russia’s wish is not a viable peace agreement. Finnair’s strategy update also started from the premise that Russian airspace is not opening. In my opinion, there’s no point in speculating about it any further.

Now that it seems that peace will come to Ukraine and “Russia will be integrated back into the world economy,” will Finnair benefit when the airspaces open?

Here are Viljakainen’s official comments regarding this recent announcement.  Finnair announced on Thursday that it would issue an unsecured bond worth EUR 300 million. We expected the company to seek debt financing for investments during the upcoming strategy period, and the terms of the now-published loan are in line with our expectations. Finnair’s Q3 revenue was lower than estimated as ticket prices developed softer than we expected. Finnair did a bit better than we estimated in terms of costs, but this wasn’t enough to make up for the shortfall in revenue and Finnair’s EUR 50.7m comparable EBIT fell almost EUR 15m short of the estimates. Finnair also adjusts its FY’25 guidance downwards due to many reasons, including weakness in the North Atlantic traffic. Finnair’s updated comparable EBIT guidance midpoint implies EUR 46.5m for Q4’25.
