For the Q3 earnings season, yours truly had 7 companies reporting on the same day… Because of this, I had to produce more concise reports to get them all out  Normally, of course, there should always be a more comprehensive valuation page in these earnings updates!

The guys at Proprius apparently took a position in Digia in December:  I wonder if they have positions in other IT service sector companies? Edit: answering my own question, they have one in Gofore at least.

In January 2022, when a positive profit warning was issued, it happened on the 10th working day after the turn of the year, and now it’s already the 13th working day. To be able to say that EBITA is at the same level or higher than in 2024 (as the guidance states), at least €8m in EBITA should probably have been accumulated in the last quarter (Joni’s forecast €7.2m). At that EBITA level, adj. EPS should be €0.64-0.65. By the way @Joni_Gronqvist, why is the valuation section completely missing from Digia’s Q3 company report? The one that is usually in every company report. Taken from Digia’s Q2 report:

If we don’t hear a profit warning soon, which was considered likely after Q3, then Digia has certainly delivered a strong Q4 result. Joni could then raise his forecasts a bit before the Q4 report. The P/E ratio would drop below 10 based on last year’s earnings, and profit growth is expected again for this year.

The share price hasn’t really managed to take off. It’s also been quiet on the news front, and the careers page was pretty empty when I last checked.  On the other hand, without a profit warning, Q4 EBITA should be over 8M if I remember correctly – and this would easily be the best quarterly result ever. If a warning is coming, it should happen any moment now.  Along with the results, we’ll likely get to see the new strategies. In my view, the previous period ended at a pretty good time – and now they’ve probably had to really think things through. Then again, consultants have likely been heavily involved in this work already – and hopefully all the foreign subsidiaries as well.  Is there any other way to maintain, let alone accelerate growth, than more aggressive internationalization than what we’ve seen?

The chart monster turned out uglier than intended  Digia is playing the long game… remember those swim trunks – Digia has them. Lazy competitors bluster, but the grey and reliable Digia steadily moves forward without making empty promises. If and when Digia’s sexiness is noticed, then in addition to doing good work… grey Digia will turn into a charismatic player, so valuations could still get a “Digia premium.”
