Nordea is a banking company. The company offers a range of financial services, aimed at both private and corporate customers, including traditional asset management, loan financing and pension savings. In addition, it also offers advice and security insurance, as well as currency management. Nordea has the largest operations in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The company was founded in 1997 and its headquarters are located in Helsinki.

Personally, I would like to set a limit for my own banking transactions, for example, €10,000, which would require an x-day advance notice period. I certainly don’t need that amount on a whim. Likewise, a feature that would send a notification to myself, the bank, and the police if two accounts are emptied on the same day. Additionally, I would like a ban in the bank on buying cryptocurrency. Furthermore, I would like the option to prohibit transfers, for example, to Nigeria and Russia. This could really throw a wrench in the works for those scam cases. These functions just don’t exist.

Hopefully, a setting can be added to customer information that disables this functionality, i.e., the user takes responsibility for their own credentials…

A good change from the customer’s perspective, but I fear this will cause extra bureaucracy for even slightly larger/unusual money transfers. So, to minimize losses, transfers are generally blocked if there’s even a slight suspicion that it’s not a normal account transaction according to the profile. Since such transfers are naturally rare, perhaps it’s worth it to prevent a few idiots from giving their money away to scammers…

It states that EU member states and the parliament have agreed on rules that would force banks and other payment service providers to better protect their customers from fraud, hidden fees, and data breaches. Under the new rules, payment service providers are indeed responsible for their customers’ losses if fraud has not been properly prevented. Suspicious money transfers must be frozen.”

Nordea had a bit of a blunder this morning. ”Nordea made a serious error in Norway on Thursday morning, VG, among others, reports. Nordea's Q2 was the 10th consecutive quarter in which the bank's earnings level continued to improve and the Q2 result was also stronger than market expectations. Although we expect Nordea's earnings level to be close to its peak, we forecast profitability to remain strong in the coming years (2024-2026e: ROE ~15 %). In our view, the company is still exceptionally cheaply priced and thus the expected return looks attractive.
