WALLENSTAM: Construction start at Carlandersplatsen together with Sweden's Minister for Infrastructure and Housing

Wallenstam

Today, June 1, Wallenstam broke ground at Carlandersplatsen in Gothenburg together with Andreas Carlson, Sweden's Minister for Infrastructure and Housing. The groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of construction of Wallenstam's new development of 190 rental apartments, with close proximity to both the vibrant city life and green areas.

"Wallenstam's new development of 190 rental apartments at Carlandersplatsen in central Gothenburg will be a welcome addition. I am pleased to take part in the groundbreaking. Rental housing is an important form of tenure to meet people's demand and need for homes. There needs to be a diverse range of housing options that suit different stages of life, so that more people can realise their housing aspirations," says Andreas Carlson, Sweden's Minister for Infrastructure and Housing.

"We are very pleased to now formally start construction here. It is a long-awaited start for a very attractive project in one of Gothenburg's most central locations. Here, we will add new homes while strengthening the urban environment and making the most of the site's qualities," says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam.

The development comprises two buildings designed in interaction with the hilly terrain and surrounding architecture. In total, 190 apartments ranging from one to four rooms and kitchen will be built, including 17 supported housing units (BmSS), as well as two commercial premises on the ground floor. Between the buildings, a shared courtyard will be created, offering space for both tranquillity and social interaction. At the same time, the ground-floor premises will contribute to activity and movement at street level.

The development relates to the property Gothenburg Lorensberg 21:3, and PEAB Sverige is the main contractor.
