The supplementary installations still ongoing at Lamor’s Kilpilahti circular oil plant

Lamor

Lamor Corporation Plc | Press Release | May 13, 2026 at 18:12:00 EEST

During April and early May, Lamor has continued to implement the final supplementary installations related to exceptional emergency operating scenarios at its circular oil plant in Kilpilahti. The facility will produce circular oil from plastic waste for use as feedstock by the plastics industry.

In April 2026, Lamor announced that the Kilpilahti circular oil plant is operationally ready to start the production ramp-up once the final safety‑related supplementary installations specified by the safety authority have been completed. As not all supplementary installations have yet been finalized, Lamor is updating its estimated timetable for the commencement of the production ramp‑up at the Kilpilahti plant.

“At the time, we estimated that the implementation of the safety authority’s additional requirements would take approximately one month. We have made continuous progress and worked in close cooperation with the safety authority throughout the process. Based on our most recent discussion, we have today updated the schedule for the ongoing installations, and the production ramp‑up at Kilpilahti is now expected to begin by the end of June,” says Johan Grön, CEO of Lamor Recycling Oy.

Grön emphasizes that the Kilpilahti plant is a nationally significant and pioneering project.

“This is a solution where plastic waste is utilized as an industrial raw material, while at the same time supporting Finland in meeting the European Union’s target of recycling at least 50 percent of plastic waste. Once the supplementary installations have been completed and the normal regulatory inspections carried out, Lamor will commence the gradual production ramp‑up at the Kilpilahti plant without delay. A historic day is therefore approaching,” Grön says.

Lamor will issue a separate announcement once the Kilpilahti plant has produced circular oil for the first time.
