Stockholm, 25 November 2025 | Northcrypto Oy ("Northcrypto"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of GreenMerc AB (publ) ("GreenMerc") has received formal permission from the Finish Financial Supervisory Authority ("FIN-FSA") to conduct crypto-asset services under the EU Regulation on Markets in Crypto-assets ("MiCA"). MiCA is the first unified European regulatory framework for crypto services and aims to strengthen consumer protection, market integrity and financial stability in a rapidly growing sector.

MiCA sets extensive requirements for, among other things, customer protection, risk control, secure management of customers' crypto-assets and corporate governance. The approval means that Northcrypto now formally meets regulatory requirements and can thus offer the following crypto-asset services within the EU under MiCA's harmonized licensing regime:

  • Providing custody and administration of crypto-assets on behalf of clients
  • Providing transfer services for crypto-assets on behalf of clients

Northcrypto has applied to extend the license with several more crypto-asset services. Ijort Invest AB, another subsidiary of GreenMerc has applied in Sweden for the MiCA license earlier this year.

"The MiCA permit is a strategic milestone for Northcrypto and an important step for the entire GreenMerc Group. It is a proof of our efforts to create secure, transparent and long-term sustainable digital asset services in Europe," says Arvid Börje Ramberg, CEO of Greenmerc.

"Obtaining authorization shows that Northcrypto is well positioned in the new regulatory environment. It gives us the means to continue to expand, develop and refine our services for both consumers and institutional customers," says Ville Runola, CEO of Northcrypto.

The authorization enables Northcrypto to leverage MiCA's passporting framework and thereby offer its services in multiple European markets from a common regulatory base. The complete decision will be published on the FIN-FSA website https://www.finanssivalvonta.fi/en/.
