Eezy operates in staffing and recruitment. The company offers solutions in several sectors, mainly in construction and civil engineering, electrical engineering and the manufacturing industry. In addition, HR support is offered as well as support and training in the work areas. The largest operations are found in the Nordic and Baltic markets. The company was previously known as VMP Group and is headquartered in Helsinki.

Petri wrote some comments regarding April in the staffing services industry   According to the staffing industry’s revenue inquiry, the turnover of the 20 largest companies in the sector was approximately EUR 117 million in April, representing a growth of just under 1% compared to the same period last year. The development of the overall market is essentially linked to temporary staffing services, which accounted for approximately 82% of the largest players’ turnover in April. Consequently, the revenue for temporary staffing services was approximately EUR 96 million, corresponding to a growth of just under 2% from the comparison period. The revenue of employment activities tracked by Statistics Finland grew nicely again in April compared to the previous year:  Doing business is expected to become significantly easier once the market shifts from contraction to slight growth after a couple of difficult years:

This morning’s Yle news discussed the changes to unemployment benefits and their effects (which are driving people to seek work) and stated: “between February and April, Kela issued instructions to nearly 40,000 people to register as full-time job seekers with employment services.” This sounded like a large number, and it brought to mind the impact on Eezy’s professional services; how directly / significantly does this benefit that segment? In Q1, Eezy already saw growth in professional services, and employment services were specifically mentioned as a driver. If the tailwind came specifically from the matter mentioned above, then logically speaking, only a fraction would have timed into Q1, and a larger impact would only be seen from Q2 onwards.

The CEO actually used a “textbook” hidden order, i.e., an iceberg order, at the 0.15 levels for a couple of days. He only managed to collect crumbs from there. As seen in the release, the day before yesterday he only managed to gather a measly 43,301 shares from that level during the entire day. Then yesterday, he indeed grabbed more in the morning and raised his bid a few times. Again using a hidden iceberg order, so he didn’t scare the price by showing the full size of his buy order. And indeed, the price rose to that 0.17 level, or +10%, due to his purchases—that’s correct. However, this happened quite early in the day, and for the rest of the day, it rallied dictated by other forces and with high volumes by Eezy’s standards, ending at a +30% increase to the 0.203 level. So, quite far from the CEO’s purchases. So, if the CEO intended to buy the amount he bought this week, he gets a clean bill of health from me regarding his execution. It would have been difficult to gather the same amount cheaper from the market by buying this week.

In a company with such low trading volume, you often have to buy a reasonably large position to clear the ask side if you aren’t prepared to wait for a long time. And there is no guarantee that the spreads won’t widen anyway, especially if there were daily announcements about exactly how many shares the CEO managed to scoop up that day. The company’s share price also dropped significantly first after the announcement of the offering (justified) and a second time when the subscription rights were detached from the shares (not so justified, in my opinion).
