Cityvarasto Acquires Property in Oulu – New Self-Storage Hotel Opening in Karjasilta
Cityvarasto Plc continues its growth in the Oulu region and has acquired a property from Veikkaus Ltd located at Poratie 6, approximately 1.5 kilometers from the center of Oulu. The acquisition includes a land lease for a plot of around 3,100 m² and a single-story building of over 1,200 m² located on the site.
The company’s goal is to open a modern self-storage hotel at the premises in early 2027. The new location will serve residents and businesses in the Oulu area by offering contemporary, easily accessible storage solutions.
“Oulu is an important growth city for us, and we want to have a strong presence there. The Karjasilta location is excellent: close to the city center yet easy to access. Our aim is to provide local residents with a modern self-storage hotel that meets today’s needs,” says Ville Stenroos, CEO of Cityvarasto Plc.
The building has previously been used for production and maintenance purposes and will be converted into a self-storage hotel in line with Cityvarasto’s concept.
“Today’s customers expect convenience and flexibility. In our model, storage units can be rented, contracts signed, and additional services selected entirely digitally, whenever it suits the customer,” the CEO continues.
Cityvarasto currently operates four locations in the Oulu area and one in Kempele. The Karjasilta site will be the company’s sixth location in the region, further strengthening its position as a local operator.
“Everyday life no longer revolves around office hours and storage shouldn’t either. Our job is to make acquiring extra space so easy that it can be done just like grocery shopping,” the CEO notes.
The coverage of Cityvarasto’s location network is demonstrated by the fact that approximately 77 percent of Oulu residents live within a 15‑minute distance of a Cityvarasto location (Source: Statistics Finland, ESRI). The new Karjasilta site is expected to open to customers in early 2027.
