The transaction includes Edlevo, a software solution for education and teaching administration in Finland and Sweden, and HR&Payroll, which provides leading HR and payroll solutions for Swedish public sector customers in central government, universities, and municipalities. The enterprise value (cash and debt-free purchase price) of the businesses to be sold is EUR 95 million. The purchase price will be subject to customary adjustments at the time of closing. The transaction is expected to be completed during the second quarter of 2026, and in accordance with Tieto’s new capital allocation principles, the company will use the proceeds from the sale for debt reduction and/or distribution of funds to shareholders. Tieto Indtech currently consists of eight separate software businesses. Tieto stated at its Capital Markets Day in November 2025 that Tieto Indtech aims to strengthen its portfolio and growth by simplifying and focusing its operations. The agreement signed with EG supports this chosen direction. The combined revenue of the businesses to be sold was EUR 37 million in 2025, and the adjusted operating profit (EBITA) was EUR 5 million, including allocated group costs. There are approximately 260 employees.

The arrangement involves a phased transfer of services covered by the framework agreement from Tieto’s current service provider, who will remain an important supplier for the company regarding its other services. All four of Tieto’s business areas as well as the group’s shared IT services are covered by the framework agreement signed with Orange Business. Tieto Banktech has already agreed to adopt Orange Business’s services, initiating transfers to the company’s European sovereign cloud platform (Cloud Avenue) in the second half of 2026. Tieto’s other business areas are most likely to follow in phases within an approximately two-year transition period, according to their own plans. Key factors in the partner selection, in addition to business continuity, were the ability to support Tieto’s expansion goals in Europe and its competitive cost structure. Tieto and Orange Business are not disclosing financial or other details related to their agreement at the initial stage of cooperation.

I support company-paid analysis. Company-paid analysis makes the existence of the coverage itself possible. As for Premium, I pay for the tool and the way to use information, not for the creation of the analysis. Would you like me to clarify anything further regarding this?  Sure, it said that, but I interpret it such that the company was not ready to pay for the client relationship. For this reason, “TIETO’s decision” is also in quotation marks. If there is no willingness to pay for coverage, visibility or valuation levels are not key objectives right now. Personally, I don’t see this as a good signal. Of course, the counter-argument to this is that the company is focusing on operational performance. Still, the end result is the same. My own visibility is weakened. In our view, the analysis market is gradually shifting towards a model of company-paid analysis that is open to all investors. Due to this and our internationalization strategy, we are focusing our coverage resources on our client companies.

Yep. Back when I was working at Tieto, as soon as Alkio arrived, everything started going downhill. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the fact that Kimmo Alkio might not have been that great of a tennis player either.

At Tieto, things finally seem to be heading in a better direction after a long time. Replacing Alkio with a Norwegian was clearly a good move. Earnings are improving, and now there’s a big share buyback as well. Maybe this stock will properly take off one day. Though there might be a setback in the ESG targets

Our forecasts include a milder decline in the areas that suffer from the market, and our forecasts for the full year are at the bottom of the guidance. Thus, there is still a slight risk of a profit warning for Q4.
