Take-Two’s development pipeline also includes other similar development projects, such as Ken Levine’s “Bioshock in space” - JUDAS, which was supposed to be released already in March, but they got an extra year for development. Yes, there would definitely be a spot for Max Payne, and even if there aren’t huge profits available, there’s even more fame for Remedy. My wish as a player is that this wouldn’t be Remedy’s last Max Payne game, but that the series would continue under Remedy’s guidance…

At least my feed has been full of rumors about a third GTA trailer and pre-orders opening in recent days. When GTA shifts, H1’2026 might have less competition for Rockstar’s release and marketing resources. The sooner MPR is released, the better from this perspective. As expected, there was no new mention of MPR in Take-Two’s earnings report today. But this interesting highlight from Take-Two’s CEO: Strauss Zelnick:  The other big game of the quarter was Mafia: The Old Country, which beat the firm’s internal expectations and Zelnick says proves there’s a market for narrative games done well.   “What we suspected was confirmed,” he said. “Which is just… if you give consumers a great narrative experience that’s a lot of fun, somewhat contained, and at a fair price, then you can have the perfect result.”  These images have remained unchanged in Take-Two’s earnings materials for several quarters.     No mention of MPR in Take-Two’s pipeline, but this is not surprising as there has been no official announcement of the game yet.

Alan Wake 2’s platinum trophy had been achieved by 9.1% of players at the beginning of October, before the game came to the PS+ service. Trophies are activated when the game is launched for the first time. I assumed that AW2 had sold 1.5M copies by the beginning of October. The latest information is from a year ago when AW2 had exceeded 2M sales, and assuming that Control’s sales curve has surpassed AW2’s sales curve at this point, I estimated that about 2.5M units would have been sold currently, of which the mentioned 1.5M would be on the Playstation side. With these assumptions, approximately 135,000 players would have achieved the platinum trophy by the beginning of October. As of this writing, 5.3% of players have achieved the platinum trophy. And because there has been a drop from 9% —> 5.3%, and in the most conservative estimate, it is estimated that the number of platinum trophies has increased during the month, for example, from 135,000 –> 140,000 units. In this case, AW2 has been launched by 2.64M players. This would mean about a million more players. This figure seems to be in relatively good proportion to the Google Trends data brought up by @Miika21, for example. The Q4 report will be interesting, as any upward fluctuations in game sales (royalties + b2b) from the previous quarter will practically indicate the full estimated cost of this AW2 PS+ Game of the Month deal.

Alan Wake 2 has attracted quite a few players from the Playstation Plus service last month. The Google Trends search term “Cult stash” was at 55% of its launch level last month.
