Olav Thon lived to be 101 years old and was the founder of Olav Thon Eiendomsselskap ASA. Olav Thon stepped down as the company's chairman in 2023, but was still an active board member of the company at the time of his death. Deputy member of the company's board Stig O. Jacobsen has, after Thon's death, taken over as an ordinary board member until the company's ordinary general meeting in May 2025.
