Nexam Chemical secures largest Recycling customer to date

Nexam Chemical Holding

Nexam Chemical today announces that a new and to date the largest volume customer within Reactive Recycling® has now started full commercial production and is purchasing the company's additives at full scale. This marks a key milestone in the growing traction for Nexam Chemical's technology within the packaging industry - with several other customers expected to follow suit in the near future.

The customer produces packaging based on mechanical recycling and uses Nexam Chemical's additives to enhance the properties of recycled plastic. By combining mechanical recycling with the right additives, it becomes possible to increase the use of recycled material - even when feed stock quality is lower - while maintaining the performance of the final product.

"This is a clear confirmation that our Reactive Recycling® technology works in real-world, large-scale applications. Based on these recent developments, we forecast sales in this segment to be higher in Q2 than in previous quarters. While there is still a relatively modest share of our total business, we are expecting to see quite substantial growth rates, both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter, going forward. Our strategy to focus on recycling is really starting to pay off," says Henrik Bernquist, Business Manager.

In parallel, several other customer projects are progressing through evaluation and approval processes, moving steadily toward serial production. New additive generations are also under development to meet further challenges in the recycling value chain.

"As we head into summer, we do so with a strong sense of momentum. It's rewarding to see the results of our long-term efforts starting to materialize - especially in an area like Recycling, that is both commercially attractive and crucial from a sustainability perspective. I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers, partners and colleagues a wonderful summer," concludes Ronnie Törnqvist.
