Irisity is a supplier of security solutions. The company offers security products within camera surveillance connected to certified alarm centers. The surveillance is based on proprietary camera surveillance with video analysis algorithms. The company offers its products and services to schools, construction and industrial companies, with the largest operations in the Nordic region, the Baltics and Europe. The headquarters are located in Gothenburg.

Could someone analyze why Irisity has fallen so low? Would it already be a buying opportunity?  How to phrase this. Irisity already has a sales organization and customers. Even from Nvidia, there’s been reasonably affordable hardware (a few thousand) that can be run on the edge, in the same local network as surveillance cameras. On the software side, they already have their own strengths, but something like deepseek can now also be utilized. In summary, big leaps have been made on both the hardware and software sides, but it’s not that easy for new players to start from scratch. One would think the market is growing, and if the price is cheap, why wouldn’t a competitor buy it out?

Apparently, Irisity has recently appeared on the Axis partner list. News published on April 13th: “Irisity launches Irisity Edge for Axis”  It seems to be related to this. If you select “sort by popularity” (with Finland selected on my end), they are the second and third most popular.  These work, for example, on cameras equipped with Axis ARTPEC-8 SoC chips. The analysis first takes place on the edge (on that chip), and as little information as possible is sent to the cloud. No other extra hardware is required for the camera installation. I have to comment on this, as I work in the security sector specifically with cameras. In my opinion, the time and opportunity for Irisity and other similar companies offering solely AI technology have already passed. There are countless such companies already in Finland alone. These had their chance in 2010-2015 when camera technology shifted from analog to IP technology, but cameras still only offered images. Nowadays, cameras offer object (car, person, etc.) recognition completely free and built-in. These technologies are already coming to even the more affordable cameras. Similarly, newer versions of recording software include object recognition and so on. In practice, these software products have not been sold by installation or security companies, but by the companies themselves. I also assume that compatibility only exists with Axis and Mobotix cameras, which are the only ones that have opened doors to other manufacturers’ code. Mobotix is a really niche device that I have never seen in Finland, and Axis, on the other hand, is struggling with serious delivery problems exceeding 6 months.
