Fosnavåg/Sunde, 2 June 2023: Eqva ASA's (OSE: EQVA) subsidiary BKS Industri
(BKS) has secured a new contract for Norsk Hydro, demonstrating again its
competitiveness.
BKS will contribute to upgrading 80 furnaces at the Norsk Hydro aluminium plant
at Husnes in Sunnhordland and making them more energy efficient. The contract
has a value of abt. NOK 15 million and the work is expected to be completed by
early 2024. The remaining 120 furnaces at the same potline will continue to
operate with older technology for the time being.
Eqva and BKS recently and regularly engage in similar assignments for land based
and power intensive industry. High energy prices, stricter government
requirements and society's expectations for even more climate and
environmentally friendly metal production make such modification projects highly
relevant.
"With the planned upgrade at Husnes, Norsk Hydro confirms its ambition to be a
leading producer of sustainable aluminium, and its position as a frontrunner in
the industry with the will and ability to invest in Norway. We are proud to be
part of this, says Tore Thorkildsen, Sales Manager at BKS Industri.
"Our collaboration with Norsk Hydro dates back several decades. Hydro is a
cornerstone company at Husnes and generates significant business to local
suppliers. We are pleased to see that once again a local company like ours,
along with our skilled employees, are competitive and attractive for such work.
I am confident that there will be more opportunities like this in the years
ahead, says Thorkildsen.
BKS Industri is part of Eqva's business area Products, Solutions & Renewables.
The contract will be booked as order income in the second quarter of 2023.
